The 2013 Velo Vogue Bicycle Fashion Show was a free event held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Paseo Nuevo Mall in Santa Barbara, California. It was a 1st Thursday event, and the launch of CycleMAYnia, a month of bike events celebrating cycling. The show celebrates fashionable and functional Santa Barbara cycling, inspiring the fashion conscious to cycle with style. The show alludes to the cycle chic lifestyle where the bicycle is a fun and convenient option. It demonstrates that the bicycle is not just a recreational item, but also a practical, healthy and stylish mode of transportation, improving our quality of life.
Guests enjoyed nibbles and beer from the Hoffmann Brat Haus and local beer from Telegraph Brewing Company, all while enjoying live music from the Sidewalk Affair. Make-up and hair design was provided by 19 Blue, and professional photographer Jason Egbert from Samy’s Camera took glamor shots around the courtyard before the show.
This year’s retailers included: Horny Toad, Mission Tux, REI, Stewart+Brown, Voler, Walz Caps, Swrve, Ugg, Teva, Momentum, Vespertine, Bizerk, Osprey, Old Man Mountain Racks, Terry Bicycles, The Arbor and Bici Centro. Models will be styled by 19 Blue Salon. A diversity of bicycle types are featured, and include road, mountain, city, electric, cargo and Dutch, as well as Santa Barbara-made bicycles. Bicycle providers include Muse Cycles, Stinner Frameworks, Ooty’s Scooters, Velo Pro Cyclery, Cranky's Bikes, Open Air Bicycles, Hazard's Cyclesport and REI. Vintage and unique bikes from personal collections are also featured.
