Are you thinking about creating or leading an event, but not quite sure where to go or what steps to take? The CycleMAYnia team is here to help. Check the calendar for regular planning meetings or contact Lori La Riva (info below).

By joining the CycleMAYnia planning crew, you can collaborate with other event coordinators, get tips and tools for planning your event, and be eligible for a Traffic Solutions’ mini grant for $50 to $500*. Whether or not you use grant money, your event will be included on the CycleMAYnia website and calendar, as well as printed materials all around town.

Events can be for kids and/or adults and relate to any type of cycling or bicycle lifestyle. Think rides, shows, parties, competitions, family fun, education, art, and bikes!bikes!bikes! Mini-grants can be used to cover a variety of costs, such as:

  • Site rental (city park, gallery, etc.) to hold an event
  • Permit fees
  • Food and bike maintenance for riders at a bike-in day at your school, office, etc.
  • Material costs for community outreach
  • Incentives and prizes for event participants and winners

Read the registration requirements then go to to register your event and apply for a mini-grant. The deadline is March 9, 2014.

*Mini-grants are only available for events held on the South Coast, however all bike events throughout SB County are welcome in the CycleMAYnia planning and marketing efforts.

CycleMAYnia is coordinated by SBCAG Traffic Solutions and is funded by a City of Santa Barbara sponsored South Coast Measure A Bicycle and Pedestrian Grant. Additional funding is provided by private and public sponsorships. The events are made possible with support from SB Bike, COAST, the City of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, the City of Goleta, and community volunteers.
