Come on out and volunteer with the new SBBC mobile bike shops!

Hi friends!

We are excited to be launching our Mobile Bike Shop Program, sponsored by the Spanish Language Outreach Committee of the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition. Every Saturday, from April through June, a mobile bike repair shop, mounted on the back on an extracycle, will roll into either the Westside or the Eastside, providing free repairs and educational resources to residents. Our bilingual staff will help fix flats, adjust brakes, and teach basic bicycle maintenance.

In addition to providing accessible services, these mobile bike shops will serve as a vehicle for finding out how the SBBC can better serve the Latino community, in order to bring new voices to local conversations about cycling and alternative transportation. We will ask all those attending the mobile bike shops to complete a survey, and will use their compiled responses to direct our future efforts in Spanish Language Outreach.

Each clinic will be staffed by a paid mechanic and greeter, but we will need volunteers to help us manage the flow of people attending.

So, whether you have some bike repair skills, speak a little Spanish, or just want to get involved, check out the dates below to see which days you might be able to help out with.
