The annual CycleMAYnia Tour de Tent took a group of 26 on a two-day adventure. The group ride and camp-out left from Santa Barbara to the Arroyo Hondo Preserve, part of the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County. It was 60 easy miles over the course of two days, with a freeway portion that was way more comfortable than expected.
On the way there we stopped at Coal Oil Point for lunch and El Capitan Canyon Resort for ice cream. At the preserve, riders enjoyed hiking, creek dipping, and night-sky viewing (Jupiter and its moons!) with an astronomy guide. Meals were cooked as a team and camping was in the gorgeous meadow. On the return, we stopped at El Capitan State beach for a rest and M. Special for libations and food!
The spirit of the event was one of collaboration, new friendships, adventure, and fun on two-wheels... and inspiring more bike touring adventures!
